Queer are the ways of this world
and queerer are the people who inhabit it
Queer is that friend, who claims to be your close friend,
yet plays games with you for their own selfish interests
Queer are you, to watch the game yet pretend like all is fine
and let it be, coz you don’t want to lose them
Queer is that guy, who chases a girl to the moon to woo her till she gives in,
only to dump her a few days later for someone new
Queer is the girl, to take this guy back again
when he gets dumped by the girl he dumped her for, coz she thinks she loves him
Queer is the child, who gives up on his parents who taught him how to walk,
just when they become too frail to walk coz his spouse can’t stand them
Queer are the parents, to forget all said and done by their child and help him yet again
when he expects a chunk of their hard earned wealth coz they love him no matter what
Queer is the person, who’s jealous of his sibling’s happiness and success
coz he couldn’t make it for himself
Queer are you, to still help your jealous sibling when they go through a rough patch
coz you want to see them happy
Queer is the man, who finds faults with the very qualities in his spouse
that once drew him to her
Queer is the woman, who still puts up with it
and strives to meet the expectations of her spouse and family to feel accepted
Queer is the boss, who gets insecure with his subordinate’s excellent performance
coz he feels the credit will go to the subordinate instead of him
Queer is the subordinate, who inspite of being treated shabbily by the boss
still helps the boss achieve his targets with all his genuine efforts
coz he believes that they still are a team
Queer is the society, that offers false empathy and pseudo help
just to get a better seat to watch your struggle
and secretly feel relieved that it wasn’t happening to them
Queer are you, to share your worries with a world full of people Queerer,
in spite of knowing that most of them will judge you
but very few will help you.

The world is full of queer people, and queer things, isn't it?
It sure is Romi….and so are we!
Second post on queer I've read today. Queer itself is a queer word.
These are excellent examples of how complicated the human species is. Some of them send shivers through my spine. Great post. Visiting from UBC.
Thank you for this very interesting post. Yes, we are a queer lot, but if we weren't, what would be the fun in that?
But what is 'normal' ?
Yes Suzy queer isn't it? With so many queer things happening around us, i'm sure the word is on a lot of people's mind!
Thanks Francene, these are real life examples of people around us…happens to the best of us.I'm glad the post resonated with you.
I'm glad you found the post interesting Stacey.Yes you're right, I'm sure these queer things although they hurt, just make our relationships that much more unpredictable yet interesting.
Sophie…your question sets me thinking again! Yes although a lot of queer things happen around us…guess we have just taken them as 'normal' and inculcated them in our relationships.
Amazing!! a very meaningful post, i loved every bit 🙂
You are true, such queer people thrive on our silence and goodwill only. Purity of feelings has little value today. As Francis Bacon had remarked
'Pure gold coin doesn't work in markets, we need to mix some copper in it!'
A little practical sense on our part can make such queer people behave themselves 🙂
You're right Ankita. One needs to be practical in today's life. Glad you liked it 🙂
Deep thoughts there..discovering you write this, now this is queer my dear 😉
Haha what's queer about me writing this Sahiti? I'm a Gemini… you'll see different sides of me from time to time 😉
And so wonderful is ur poem….loved it…
Thanks Issac. Glad you like it 🙂
Absolutely well said Vinodini. The world is full of them, deeply ingrained in a spoilt society:)
Yes Vishal. Sadly, it is what we have made ourselves into.
Somethings are just part of our life, what will be life if everything is just perfect and right. 🙂
I agree Gaurab. All perfect is boring too. These imperfect things only help make us stronger.
A very interesting post !
Thanks Renu 🙂
