Was this real?!
Were her sleepy eyes deceiving her?
She saw his chalky white face looming outside the window again. His piercing gaze on her. Drawing the curtains she shut the night out. It spooked her enough to vacate the flat and move into the building right across the street.
From the window of her new habitat she spotted the window of her previous flat. She wished she had known then what she knew now. The eerie face she had seen every night was actually a play of light and shadow of this old building she had now moved into!
That was spooky! No wonder she switched homes. Liked the take on the prompt 🙂
Thanks Shailaja..actually it is a true story. This is the view from a friend's flat in Mumbai. We noticed the face after I clicked pictures while admiring the cityscape at night. Though she's brave enough not to have moved out of the house.
Wow! Way to suck the reader right into the scene. Well done. A nice little bit of writing!
Thanks Amy, glad I could get you engrossed in it. Great to have you visiting here.
Excellent mood setting. I was shivering as my imagination went wild. Great job! Alana

He he he .. That was a little spooky to start with. Great image though 🙂
Thanks Vinay. I clicked a few and surpringly the face showed up in all of them 🙂
Very eerie. You say so much with such few words. Well done!
Hey thanks Stephanie. It was a task to keep it short yet be narrative…but enjoyed writing it nevertheless.
This is spooky !!
Glad I could spook you R Vyas…it spooked me too!
This is super spooky, pray tell me where in Mumbai was it? I shall forever avoid going there!
Hehehe Midnight scribbles, this is in Andheri-west.Though it would help you to know that its just a harmless building in the day which looks like a face in the night coz of the lights and shadows :)….it spooked me bigtime though!

Aha! Light and shadows play games with our minds!
Yeah they sure do Corinne. They play with our minds and in this case with the eyes too 🙂
Spooky post but well written Vinodini…

Om My! It's sad she couldn't understand the games of the shadow before she decided to move out. Nice take 🙂
Thanks and welcome to my blog. Happens a lot many times, that we jump to assumptions and take actions accordingly even before we get a clarity on the truth.
