Welcome Home Sam!

It is exactly a month today since we got Sam home. His second and hopefully his forever home. He is a delightfully adorable eight-year-old Pug. I wonder why is it that we hesitate to adopt older pets. I know it’s easier to bond with younger animals and they are much more active and naughtier than the older ones. But adopting a senior dog has a charm of its own. They are just as affectionate as young puppies, and once you win their trust, the bond is much more stronger and mature than ever.

Thoughts for 2021

The biggest lesson I learned last year was that no matter how big and firm your new year’s resolution is, a tiny virus is capable of shaking it all up and gulping it up in one giant sweep. A few days into it and I still am wondering what I really want this year to be all about. Dusting the cobwebs off my mind from the previous year’s aftereffects here’s a list of things I came up with for my year ahead.

Smiling Through the Lockdown

No matter how socially distant we tend to think we are, we’re never alone. Just look around. I am sure there are a lot of amusing anecdotes waiting to happen around you. While we together are battling this war against the virus in isolation, it helps to take our mind off the dreariness at times and focus on the lighter side of life. Go look outside the window, balcony or from top of the terrace, but on your own. Besides binge-watching on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Youtube videos, my daily dose of entertainment come from these scenes that I get to see from my terrace during the evening. Mind you, I don’t mean to be nosey or pry into their lives, but well, you just can’t miss a few things that are happening right in front of your eyes!

How much is too much?

Each of us is equipped with different degrees of tolerance. Just because the one next to you is still pulling through it, that doesn’t mean you need to do the same. Learn to recognize when you’ve crossed your scales of endurance and the exact point where you need to stop. In that moment of epiphany, do yourself a favor and hit the brakes. Jump off the vehicle if you may and bid the bumpy ride with a happy goodbye! Some roads are best left not traveled.

Before You’re Not Little Anymore

In the summer of 2017, I came up with the idea of writing letters to my son on my blog, to help him cope with various emotions and situations that most of us go through as a part of growing up. Those letters became the foundation of my first solo book ‘Before You’re Not Little Anymore.’ Finally, the book is ready for release. I will share the details of the launch shortly. Before You’re Not Little Anymore is available for pre-launch booking on my Facebook author page. It will be available for sale in India to start with, on Amazon, the StoryMirror website and at major bookstores in select cities after the launch. The Kindle edition will be available in the following days.
If you’re wondering why you should be buying this book, let me tell you why. Before You’re Not Little Anymore, elaborates on life skills and practical tips that are helpful for every individual irrespective of their age or gender. So whether you’re a parent, child or neither any of them, either way, this book is probably worth a read!

Baked Mango Cheesecake

A neglected block of cream cheese was lying in the corner of my refrigerator for some days. I planned to use it to make a dessert but did not bring myself to do so purely out of laziness. But what got me going was the pile of ripening mangoes in my fruit basket that begged…

Roars of Ranthambore

As with most of my travelogues, this one also comes out little later than I hoped. Last month I visited Ranthambore with my family. My son is home from university for his summer holidays. My parents wanted to spend some quality time with both of us. However, the sweltering heat did not seem too encouraging…

How To Deal With Silent Abuse In A Relationship

Silent abuse is painful and frustrating. Whether someone uses silence to hurt you or teach you a lesson, it is important to understand that no one deserves to be treated this way, no matter the situation. Communication is the lifeblood of relationships, and the withholding of it can give way to manipulation and emotional abuse….

Dieting can be very helpful, whether you need to lose weight or you just want to make healthier eating choices. A strict short-term diet regimen can get you started on the path to better eating habits. However, healthy weight loss programs are much different from eating disorders.
